Volunteer Opportunities
Thrift Store
Receive/sort donations (Mondays 9
a.m. – 3 p.m.); sorting, pricing, stocking, sales and service.
Wednesdays – Saturdays 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Hours are very flexible and
can be as little as four hours/month, or as needed.
Childcare
Provide childcare during our
Tuesday night support group. Ages vary from 0 – 17 years.
Tuesdays 6:15 p.m. – 8: 15 p.m.
Spanish-speaking Support
Act as a translator for our
Spanish-speaking clients during Tuesday night support groups.
Tuesdays 6:15 p.m. – 8: 15 p.m.
On-call Volunteer
Volunteer on an on-call status.
On-call volunteers would be called as needed, not scheduled regularly.
Times could be on a weekday (either morning or afternoon office shift)
and/or on Tuesday evenings between 6:15 – 8:15 p.m. providing
childcare.
Court Advocate
Record court proceedings while
clients speak with Shelter staff outside the courtroom.
Wednesdays and/or Thursdays 9 a.m.
– 11 a.m.
Shelter Office Work
Answer the phone, answer the door,
accept and receive donations, and other miscellaneous duties. Hours
are flexible.
Mondays – Fridays, three shifts: 9
a.m. – 12 p.m., 1 p.m. – 5 p.m., 5 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Special Projects
Various opportunities are
available for individual volunteers or volunteer groups. Projects
involve normal up-keep of the Shelter such as weeding flowerbeds,
organizing closets, spring cleaning, holiday decorating, etc. Your
ideas are welcome! Times vary according to project and the
individual’s schedule.
Pick-up and Delivery
Pick-up donated items (including
furniture) and transport to the Shelter, storage or client’s home.
Times vary.
