Benton County Women's
Shelter
Cell Phone Collection Program
We would be honored to have you participate
in our cell phone collection program. The Benton County Women's Shelter
collects used, obsolete cell phones. The cell phones serve as a means of
communication to emergency services for all clients of the Benton County
Women's Shelter. Each client that passes through the doors of the shelter
leaves with one of the donated cell phones. In case of an emergency the
client uses the cell phone to call 911. This service is free of charge to the
client and shelter.
The organization utilizes the cell phones in
a second way as well. When we have a surplus of phones they are turned in for
recycling. The shelter is given money for each phone turned in and recycled.
Every dollar goes directly to help a client achieve her goal of safety.
The Benton County Women's Shelter is a
private, non-profit 501c3 organization, members of Benton and Washington
County United Way, and the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. BCWS
has been providing services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault
in Northwest Arkansas since 1989.
At the end of 2004 the Benton County Women's
Shelter
Received 1,274 hotline calls
Sheltered 123 children
Sheltered 104 women
Provided non-residential services to 423 individuals in our community
75.2% of residents leaving the shelter did not return to their abusive
partner.
